My love for tanning began about 8 years ago when I became a Ballroom Dancing competitor. At that time I didn’t know much about airbrush tanning or even heard of it so I resorted to the drugstore tanning lotions. Which for those of you who have tried them know exactly what they come out like. You wake up in the morning with orange sheets, orange skin and you smell like BBQ chicken. And don’t even get me started on the process of it coming off especially if you have pale skin. For years I wanted to find some sort of tanning solution that doesn’t smell bad, comes off nicely and looks natural. I tried UV beds but those took way too long to tan and I just felt horrible damaging my skin that way. I also tried tanning booths, which were a step closer to what I was looking for but still not close enough. Then I discovered airbrush tanning and this was when I knew I found something amazing. I tried many different airbrush tanning systems because every place I went to had a different color or smell or lasted for different periods of time and I really wanted to find the perfect one for me. After a lot of research and different shades of tan I found the perfect solution. I loved it so much and was so impressed by it that I wanted to share it with everyone. Not only did it give me a boost of confidence but it made me look 10 pounds lighter and thanks to the unique brush I was able to have muscle definition where to be quit honest, muscle is non existent.
And this is how my partner Alla and I got to where we are today. We combined our knowledge and passion for tanning and are proud to bring to you SilkTan.

I was born with Type I skin, which means I am very pale, get burned easily and never tan. When tanning became popular, about 10 years ago, I started to feel self conscious as everyone around me was tanning and I could not. I remember being on vacation in Mexico and walking by the pool as I hear over the microphone spoken by one of the cabana boys, “please someone give that girl some sunblock or she will burn”- he was talking about me.
I’ve tried everything, at home tanning lotions, spray booths, tanning beds, expensive and inexpensive but nothing really worked. My skin just didn’t’ seem to want to tan, naturally or falsely.
About three years ago I started researching airbrush tanning and different solutions. Finally, something worked. Since you have someone who is working on you, they know how much solution to apply, which color to use and can customize it to specific skin type and color. I began really enjoying this process and deciding to learn more.
Three years later, my partner Kate and I give you SilkTan. We will give you the care, the service and the color we ourselves expected when we were clients of similar salons.
